Welcome to Abbots Bromley School and International College. We hope that you find this prospectus useful and offer you an open invitation to visit our school, to see for yourself, the unique educational experience we offer to all our students.
We feel proud of the high standards reached by all members of our community and our focus is on raising standards and creating opportunities for all our students. Our unique selling points of academic excellence, coupled with dramatic/artistic and sporting (including equestrian) specialisms means that all aspects of the curriculum are valued and celebrated. Our focus is on raising students’ awareness of how they can flourish and develop towards adulthood and to enable them to leave us as well rounded global citizens; leaders of the future.
Excellent academic achievement, highly committed, well qualified staff and a relentless focus on standards has resulted in a school with an ethos which values success and this is supported by all members of our community – the students, the staff, our parents and governors. The school has excellent facilities; extensive grounds, all weather pitch, gymnasium and wonderful swimming pool, as well as our very own purpose built dance studio and equestrian centre. We pride ourselves on the pastoral care of all members of our community.
The Sixth Form has been recognised as being amongst the top 20 small schools for academic excellence, with the focus being academic achievements. All students follow a 4 AS and 3 or 4 A2 Level course with a full extra-curricular programme. Oxbridge and University preparation programmes and an enrichment curriculum service ensure that all students are supported. The Sixth Form Common Rooms, Study Rooms and separate ICT facilities enable private study in conducive surroundings, ably supported by a first class Head of Sixth Form and team.
All students in the school are part of a vibrant house system and Heads of House liaise with parents over day to day matters appertaining to our students and their welfare. These key personnel know the students well and ensure that the home school link is maintained. Boarding is an integral part of life here at Abbots Bromley and we believe our boarding environment is a ‘home from home’.
Learning and teaching are our priority areas and students have targets set which are monitored throughout their time at the school. A friendly yet formal, traditional yet forward looking ethos underpins the notion that we expect students to enjoy learning and come to school prepared to learn and achieve. In return our students expect, quite rightly, to be rewarded and praised for that achievement. We adopt a traditional approach to behaviour and discipline and believe young people perform best when they feel secure.
We also value play as much as work and therefore the extra-curricular offering at the school is full and varied. Enrichment opportunities occur throughout the week and at weekends for boarders.
I feel proud and privileged to lead such a fine school and would welcome visitors to come and see ‘first hand’ what is on offer here, to meet the students and staff and to feel part of the inclusive community that is The Abbots Bromley School.
